Meet the team

Meet Sasha Jarnikov.

I've been in business since 2021, working in real estate and the sale of businesses. Through my network I've helped with the transaction of close to 400 businesses, so I know what owners go through when it's time to grow, sell or hand things off.

Read Sasha's story

Today my clients are business owners, incorporated professionals and the families behind them. Most come to me with a corporation that grew faster than its plan: retained earnings piling up and getting taxed, a partner agreement nobody funded, or no clear path to pass the business on. My job is to find the piece that holds everything together and set it properly.

Your finances have a keystone. Take it out and the rest comes down. Put it in properly and it holds for generations.

Today

Planning for owners, professionals and families across Alberta.

Built around you

There's a difference between a product and a plan.

A lot of owners get advice in pieces: a policy here, an investment account there, nobody looking at the whole picture. I work on the structure as one thing.

Advice in pieces

One product at a time

  • Sold a policy without looking at the corporation
  • Rotating reps and call centres
  • Benefits pitched, risks glossed over
  • Your accountant and lawyer left out of it

Jarnikov Legacy Group

One plan for business, shareholders and family

  • Corporate, personal and family pieces mapped together
  • You deal with Sasha directly, start to finish
  • Every structure shown with costs and what can go wrong
  • Designed with your accountant and lawyer at the table

What that means for you

You deal with me, directly

Not a call centre or a rotating junior. I'm on the first call and I stay on the file, backed by a capable team.

Mechanics first, risks included

You see how every structure works on paper, what it costs and what could go wrong before you decide anything.

Built with your professionals

I bring the numbers, insurance and lending pieces. Your accountant and lawyer keep their seat at the table.

Measured in decades

Plans get reviewed as your business, family and the tax rules change, for as long as you need them.

Questions, answered

The things owners ask first.

Straight answers. If yours isn't here, send it over and Sasha will answer personally.

What is an Immediate Financing Arrangement, in plain terms?

Your corporation (or you) buys a permanent life insurance policy, assigns it to a lender as collateral and borrows money back to reinvest. You get permanent coverage and most of your capital stays working. At death, the death benefit repays the loan and the balance goes to the corporation or beneficiaries.

Who is an IFA not a good fit for?

It's generally not suitable if you're uncomfortable borrowing, your cash flow can't handle rising interest, you can't qualify medically, or you don't have a long-term need for permanent insurance. It's built for insurable, higher-net-worth people and profitable corporations with a long horizon.

Is the loan interest really tax-deductible?

It may be. Interest is generally deductible when borrowed money is used to earn business or property income, and part of the policy cost may be deductible as a collateral insurance expense. Both have conditions under the Income Tax Act (Canada). Your accountant should confirm how they apply to you.

How can my corporation pay out money to shareholders more efficiently?

A main tool is the Capital Dividend Account. When a corporation receives a life insurance death benefit, the amount above the policy's adjusted cost basis is generally credited to the CDA, and capital dividends from it can generally go to Canadian-resident shareholders tax-free. Timing and structure matter, so we plan it with your accountant.

What happens on the discovery call?

15 to 30 minutes with Sasha. We cover your business, goals, current setup, existing coverage and what's changing in the next few years. You leave with a clear view of what's worth exploring. No cost, no obligation, no hard sell.

Do you work with my accountant and lawyer?

Yes, and we prefer to. Corporate insurance, estate freezes and trusts work best when your accountant and lawyer help design them. We share the numbers and make sure every piece fits your existing structure.

How are you paid?

The discovery call is free. When an insurance solution is put in place, advisors are typically paid by the insurance carrier. We explain exactly how compensation works for any recommendation before you commit.

Do I need to be in Alberta?

Yes. Sasha is licensed in Alberta and works with owners, professionals and families across the province, from the Calgary office or by phone and video.

Let's start with a conversation.
